On Thursday, April 7th, 2016 , after a protracted battle with cancer, a United States Marine Corps. Veteran slipped the surly bonds of Earth to touch the face of God at the age of 51. Sergeant Darrell E. Payne, known to some as the poet “ Reign Supreme ,” was the first born child of Robert Sr. and Joyce Payne. He graduated from Nova High School in Fort Lauderdale , Florida . Immediately following graduation, Darrell made the choice to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. (USMC). As a young man, Payne worked his way up the rank and was granted many certificates and awards from the USMC (logistics). During his tenure in the USMC, the United States was called into the Persian Gulf War (1990—1991) .
