Happy Birthday FLOTUS

As we are near the end of our 2nd term relationship with our 44th presidential family it is an honor and a celebration to acknowledge the birthday of Michelle Obama, the First Lady of the United States of America.

Untitled #164

It has been a long ride for the U.S. and the Obama family, but it has been a life changing ride to say the least. One thing that the Obama’s have taught and shown the world is how beautiful education really is. Another is to believe. We have watched as the world has criticized and scrutinized every member of the family, even the dogs have had their fair share of headlines. But they have handled it all  at the highest level of grace and decency that our country has ever seen.
"...when they go low, we go high." said Michelle Obama.

Within the last eight years we have witnessed Mrs. Obama deal with racism, stereotypes and other forms of discrimination as she has helped build a better tomorrow by reaching into more communities than an first lady before. She is now a role model for women like myself as I grow further into serving communities and social justice. She has advocated for education, healthy living and the development of girls both internationally and domestic.

WE have watched her on campaign and promote, we have watched her have interview and make us laugh, we have seen her declare self empowerment on television, we have watched her dance, move and get us all excited about our success. She has done it all, so in honor of her 53rd birthday here are some fun facts about our first Africa-American First Lady of the United States of America.

  1. She was born Michelle LaVaughn Robinson in 1964 in ChicagoIllinois
  2. Michelle Obama, Laura Bush (43rd), and Hillary Clinton (42nd) are the only First Ladies of the U.S. to receive master's degrees. Michelle Obama received a master's at Princeton and a law degree from Harvard.
  3. At 5 feet 11 inches tall Michelle Obama ties with Eleanor Roosevelt (32nd) as the tallest First Ladies in the country.
  4. On January 20th, 2009 Barack and Michelle Obama entered the White House as the President and First Lady and re-entered on January 20th, 2013.
  5. As she was growing up, First Lady Obama loved playing the piano so much that she had to be told to stop, however, she averted  from competitive sports because, according to her older brother, "she hated losing."

  6. To her family, "Miche" is her nickname and to the secret service her code-name is Renaissance.
  7. In the fashion area of life, like many women Mrs. Obama hates pantyhose
  8. Trying to maintain a professional look, Michelle declined Barack's first attempt to ask her on a date, saying it would be improper being that she was his mentor.
  9. It has been said that the First Lady has always been a smart and outspoken woman so it no surprise when she wrote her own stump speech during the campaign and delivered it without needing to refer to her notes.
  10. In 2010, Mrs. Obama launched Let’s Move! and in 2015, Mr. and Mrs. Obama joined forces and launched Let Girls Learn.

6 Fun Fashion Facts About Tali

This is the style edition of "Fun Facts" by Tali Hello there, Today, I decided to share some fun facts about myself.  Why?  Well, because I felt like it and I figured why not? so here we go... A fun yet obvious fact about me is that I love fashion, but I don't just love clothes I also love to design clothes, lingerie and jewelry,  really anything fashion related... duh. right? NO, seriously I really do. I started to design clothing in middle school with my friend and we would draw ball gowns and wedding dresses. I love unique jewelry. One thing I've noticed about myself, is that I don't like to wear the same type of jewelry with every outfit. I need to switch it up from time to time. I also don't like to have the same jewelry as everyone else. so if I buy a necklace set it is very unlikely that i will wear it when the "trend followers" where it. As a child, I learned that a blazer it everything!  My mom pasted down that "dress to im...

Allow me to re-introduce myself

BABY LET ME TELL YOU, (In my New Orleans voice)   I must admit when I first start writing this "about me" post, I froze up. It is so much easier to write about other people or do research on a current events than it is to write about yourself. Perhaps life has truly humbled me. Often I found myself in a battle of deciding what is important to say and if this sounds professional-- ultimately, I've questioned myself "is it perfect?" I've written articles, stories, Q&A's and plenty of paragraphs about myself and nothing has honestly seemed right.  However, I am learning that it doesn't have to be perfect the first time around and I am affirming that everything will fall into place. "Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase." Hi, I'm Tali Payne and this is website is my re-entrance into the world of writing and broadcast. This site has been an on-and-off thing for over 10 year, I...
